Scholarship Program

For many, many years, the Wrightwood Property Owners Association, Inc. has offered  scholarships to deserving students of Wrightwood (WW) graduating from Serrano High School.

Scholarship candidates are selected by a combination of various criteria such as Wrightwood residency, GPA, financial status, student goals and objectives, etc.

The history of the WWPOA offering scholarships can be summed up in this nutshell by Tom Pinard, Long time WW resident and founder of the Mountaineer

Progress Newspaper:

"In a nutshell, we in Wrightwood were so very proud to finally have a high school to call our own (do you realize, when Serrano came into being,

that Wrightwood was the driving force for its inception and construction. Someone commented the other day, “why did they build Serrano on Sheep

Creek Road?” And I answered them by saying that was the closest large piece of property to Wrightwood, where most of the students for the new7th through 12th grade school LIVE.).

We in the community were proud, like I said, so businesses and organizations wanted to do what they could to offer scholarships to deserving graduates (the Mountaineer gave business and journalism scholarships each year). That is why the WWPOA awards scholarships.”
